Client’s landlord is suing him for over $2k in water bills. Client states that his landlord previously would not send him the actual water bills, only an amount he claimed was due. The landlord sent a notice of lease termination in June of 2025. The matter was withdrawn by landlord as the parties reached a private settlement agreement in October of 2025. The client and his co-tenant subsequently filed a Fair Housing Commission (FHC) complaint against landlord in April of 2026 with a hearing scheduled for July. The landlord then filed to relist the withdrawn complaint, once again seeking the amount alleged for past water bills. A hearing has been set for a week after the FHC hearing. A volunteer is needed to represent the Clients at their July eviction hearing. Client would like to be represented with his co-tenant and both have signed conflict waivers. Landlord is unrepresented.
